Hello, I'm a frustrated student of the Korean language. I have been studying Korean for a little over a year. I currently attend a great school that teaches Korean to a small number of students. We have 3 levels and less than 10 students per class. I also take classes at the Korean Consulate in Houston. We are allowed to take classes every other session. I also have a Korean tutor that I see once a week. Finally, I have several Korean friends that I text and speak with regularly.
Even though I study Korean almost every day, I find it almost impossible to learn this language. Hopefully, I can share a few tips that have helped me. All of the readily available Korean language books are written by people who are expert Korean speakers. That will not be the case here.
Just a little background about me. I went to South Korea last year for 3 weeks. Some Korean potters invited me to visit and make pottery with them. I took a few classes but I hardly knew anything. It was really hard for me to communicate with my new friends and get around the city. This year I am going to South Korea for 3 weeks again. I can't wait to use what I have learned so far.
